Joshua Tree National Park or in Pipes Canyon
Service Description
We will start by honoring the ancestral homelands of the Cahuilla, Chemehuevi, Mohave, and Serrano people. We'll be hiking in stunning areas within the Joshua Tree National Park, visiting either Joshua Tree woodland, Pinyon-Juniper woodland, Creosote Bush Scrub, to Desert Riparian habitat all along learning about desert ecology, native flora, fauna, light botany, (learning how to identify plants using morphological characteristics).
This experience will encompass the impacts of the changing climate and the effects on the environment. We'll learn of traditional, modern uses of the indigenous plants. You will have the opportunity to taste some of the herbal preparations I have made with cultivated flora and re-engage the sense of smell and taste to identify herbal energetics, and thermal energetics.
Closing the plant hike, I will be guiding you on how to create your folk remedy, herbal electuary using vegetable glycerin, and a with a plant that I'll provide. We will delve into the herb used, and learn about medicinal uses
Children are welcomed, the material will be modified so that it is inclusive while keeping it at a level that adults will enjoy.
Travel time to the trailhead has been included in the experience time.
