About the event

Learn how you can help protect this imperiled endemic species and watch a trailer of the upcoming film called I THOUGHT THEY WERE PROTECTED, a documentary on the fight to protect and plight of the Joshua Tree.

The California Department of Fish and Game (CDFG) will be making a final recommendation next month that will determine if the species will be granted permanent protection under the California Endandered Species Act (CESA). CDFG is accepting public comments NOW as well as on the day of the meeting, public comments will be taken. We will share our experiences with these meetings, how to create a public comment, what to expect as well as having an example letter, bullet point for folks to draw inspiration from or copy and mail to CDFG.

We will also share how to get involved in the restortation work at Cima Dome.

If you cannot join us today click HERE on how you can help protect Joshua Trees. Click HERE for the example letter. Click HERE to watch the trailer, I THOUGHT THEY WERE PROTECTED.

You can then stay for a full day of events at the Joshua Tree Art Dept. for SWAN DAY, a day of celebrating folks in art, and activism.
