Desert Flora & Ecology Hike & Plant Tea Exploration

We will explore the native flora and ecology of the Mojave Desert at the Hidden Passage Guest Ranch, a desert retreat for adults tucked in the foothills of Morongo Valley. Nestled in a canyon rich in plant diversity, guest will meet native plants including medicinal and edible flora along with a discussion of traditional and contemporary uses. This hike is a moderate hike that involves 2 easy climbs up a hill both ways. Trekking pole/s or a walking stick can be brought for the decent of the hike. 

We will start with a Plant Tea Exploration made with a native cultivated plant, exploring it’s taste, physical energetics and herbal uses. 

We will meet at Cando Country Market  9662 Lanning Ln, Morongo Valley, CA 92256  at 11:00 am and depart by 11:15am . We will carpool - caravan up to the location, just a short drive from Cando Country Market. The hike will start at 12:00pm

This plant hike will not involve any foraging rather we encourage folks to preserve the wild native plants and grow your own native flora. Cactus Mart is a nursery specializing in native - drought tolerant plants native to the  Mojave, Colorado – Sonoran Desert. 

 SO WHAT WILL YOU NEED. 

• Weather appropriate clothing (please check the weather + wind report the day prior and day of) 
• Closed toed hiking shoes or boots
• 1 - 2 liters of water
• Sunscreen
• Hat/glasses (beanie if it is cold)
• Cup or mug for the Plant Tea Exploration.
• Trekking poles or walking stick. 

As much as we love of four legged fur babies we ask that pets stay home. I offer hikes for families however this location is an adult only area. Please visit my other events for plant walks that are for the entire family.
