Piñon Pine, Native Flora Herbal Syrups Workshop

Herbal syrups are a delicious way to make potent medicinal alcohol-free extracts. Syrups use water to extract your herbs of choice. Natural sweeteners like sugar, monk fruit sweetener, honey, or agave extends the shelf life. They can last for months in the refrigerator. This is a great alternative to alcohol based extracts such as tinctures.

During this workshop we will be preparing an all-natural alcohol-free syrup incorporating the use of a local evergreen, Pinon Pine Pinus monophylla. Pinon is a source of food and medicine. The bark, needles, twigs, pollen, resin have been used in both medicine and food. In this workshop ethically wildcrafted Pinon Pine from the Mojave Desert will be used for this workshop.

Pine is a drying expectorant for moist upper respiratory conditions. Used for cold, flu, damp coughs and lung crud (phlegm). In this workshop folks will be taking home 4oz of their own herbal syrup…
